Much of what you can find in Areyoulocal.co.uk is tied to a particular location. It allows us to show you only those things which are local to you. Information linked to a particular location includes events, groups, market items, articles, businesses, and of course you, the residents!
We use Google(tm) maps on our website. You might be familiar with them already, and you can use them yourself by clicking here.
There are two ways to change where the map is centred:
To zoom in or out, press the zoom controls at the top left of the map. The plus button (+) zooms in, and minus (-) button zooms out.
The map has three modes, which you select by clicking one of the view controls:
Simply scroll and zoom the map until the location you want is visible, then click on the map.
When you click, the place you clicked on is marked with a place marker. You can change the position of the marker by clicking in another place. Each time you reposition the marker, the map scrolls so that the marker is at the centre of the map.
Don't forget to save your changes after choosing your location.
In a number of places in Areyoulocal.co.uk, you can choose to present the results of a search on a map.
For example, if you've been looking for a car on the market, you can view the items on a map to make it easier to see how close each is to where you live.In these cases, a map is displayed showing one or more place markers
Each place marker shows where an item is located. If you click on the marker, an item bubble appears showing details of the item. If you click on the details, you can find out more about the item.
The map always starts off by showing all the items found, but you can zoom in to a particular area if you like.
When you click on a marker, the map may scroll slightly in order to make space for the item bubble to appear.
In this instance, when you click on the marker, you'll see a tabbed item bubble.
Click on the tabs above the bubble to view each of the items found at that location.
