Browsing Articles

Whether you're exploring a place (street, neighbourhood or block of flats) , a group , or a business on Areyoulocal.co.uk, you'll find a variety of articles of interest.

You can always search the archive of articles, but if you want to read a good selection of the latest articles, there's a better way... read a newsletter.

A newsletter is a selection of articles gathered together as a set of headlines, and every place, group and business has dedicated newsletters.

So, whether you're checking the latest village news, reading some handy hints on the gardening club newsletter or checking out the latest offers at the butchers, newsletters are a great way to plug into your local community.

Finding Newsletters for a place, group or business

Each place, group and business has one or more dedicated newsletters. Here's how to view them:

1Select the place, group or business you want to read about

The title bar shows you which place, group or business you're currently exploring.

If it isn't showing the right thing, select the place, group or business you want to read about.

If you want to read your street's newsletters, then select your street from 'My Places' in the side bar.
2Click the 'Articles' menu heading

When you click on the 'Articles' menu heading, or if you select the newsletters option from the 'Articles' menu, the most popular newsletter appears immediately.

The Newsletter choice list is a bit like a magazine rack, and it shows all the newsletters for the current place, group or business. You can browse these other newsletters by clicking on the items in the list.

The number at the end of each newsletter shows how many people have subscribed to it.

If you're looking at the newsletter for your street, and you select another place from the sidebar, the screen shows the newly selected place's newsletters.

The same goes for groups and businesses.

Subscribing to a newsletter

If you enjoy reading a particular newsletter, you can subscribe to it by clicking the button to the right of the newsletter.

The newsletter with the most subscribers is displayed by default when you click on the 'Articles' menu heading.
Why subscribe?

There are 3 reasons:

Who edits the Newsletters?

It depends what it's for:

So, in your neighbourhood, there might be 3 or 4 different newsletters. Some might have a theme, like sports, or local politics. Others might be a general roundup of recent events. It's up to the editors to choose the title and articles to feature.

In addition, Areyoulocal.co.uk automatically compiles a newsletter for every place, group and business.
